Two Happy, Successful Events at Clift Rodgers Library
Clift Rodgers Library at 540 Pleasant Street in Marshfield Hills held two happy events this summer for the Marshfield community, first, Marshfield Garden Gems on June 19th, the 4th annual
garden tour, and second, Tales to Tails on June 21st, a “reading to dogs” program for early readers. Both of these outside programs needed good weather. The forcasted hot, humid weather and thunderstorms fortunately did not occur on June 19th , and June 21st was a
“perfect 10 day” from the start.
The garden tour featured five gardens, all differently landscaped to appeal to various tastes. There were artists sprinkled along the garden path in some locations painting their inspirations, refreshments at other gardens, and hostesses at all places to welcome folks and offer cookies and lemonade. The organizers of the 2007 Marshfield Garden Gems were rewarded for their efforts with the guests’ wonderful feedback about the gardens and the enjoyment of the day as they offered support to benefit Clift Rodgers Library. Nessralla’s Farm was most generous in sponsoring this year’s garden tour. The Companion Animal Program based on the Cape presented a Tales to Tails program on June 21st for Clift Rodgers Library on the library’s front lawn. This program targeted first and second graders to read books about dogs to five CAP therapy dogs. It was exciting for both the participating children sharing their stories and the spectator adults to be a part of this program. This unique reading opportunity builds reading
confidence, strengthens oratory skills, and at the same time, gives pleasure. There was no fee
for this reading program but a suggested donation to benefit the CAP organization.
Thanks are extended to all who made these two successful events happen, especially the participants, Nessralla’s Farm, and the Cape based Companion Animal Program.
